Hawerā’s newest street, Longview Drive has been officially opened to the public.
Visitors can now walk and drive the main street of Longview Hawerā, the largest ever residential development in South Taranaki, which will provide 250 new homes in five stages over the next seven years.
South Taranaki District Council Mayor Phil Nixon says opening the new street was an exciting milestone for Hawerā and reflects the growth of the town and surrounding district.
“South Taranaki continues to see steady growth in the number of people and businesses moving to the district which is driving demand in residential and commercial developments. It’s an exciting time for South Taranaki, and developments such as Longview are a demonstration of the dynamism, business and lifestyle opportunities that are being realised here.”
“Congratulations to Paul and Brenda Schrader and their team on the amazing job they have done at Longview. The development is of a high standard. It’s a stunning achievement and will go some way to meeting the demand for high quality residential homes that we have, as evidenced by the fact that more than 40 sections have already been sold,” he says.
In mid-November South Taranaki District Council issued 223/224 certification for Stage 1B/A of the Longview development, confirming that the roads, services and landform had all been constructed in compliance with the resource consent.
This means the owners of the 40 sections in this stage of the development now have the green light to start building their new homes, subject to title.
Although the Longview development represented more than 80% of the Council’s typical annual processing workload the certificate was completed well within the required time frames.
Veros development manager, Scott Bicknell says it was a credit to the Council, as well as the team on site that the certificates were issued promptly to enable section owners to start building.
Mayor Nixon says with South Taranaki continuing to attract new businesses and families to the district the Council is committed to enabling sustainable growth through a number of projects.
These include $15 million of infrastructural investment in the South Taranaki Business Park, town centre upgrades for Eltham, Manaia, Ōpunakē, Pātea and Waverley, establishment of a business enterprise hub (in partnership with Bizlink Hawera) and construction of Te Ramanui o Ruapūtahanga the district’s new library, arts and cultural centre.
